- Colorful, crocheted lap blanket made with love by a loyal Designed For Joy volunteer and community ambassador.
Read about Debbie's inspiration for the design: "Here at Designed For Joy (DFJ) we all work together in our mission of empowering women to be the best they can be in each stage of their lives. This lap blanket is many colored to represent the many people that are involved with DFJ: the artisans, the staff and the volunteers. We work together to create beauty in the products and the relationships that are formed while we work alongside each other. The types of yarn are also varied because we are not all alike and our differences bring out our beauty. While some yarns are easy to work with, others required a bit more loving to work with. While you may think this is just true for the artisans, it is also true for all of us, depending on the day. You may notice that some colors are longer than others; this is true of those that are involved with DFJ as well. Some are just involved for a short time, others for a longer time. We need each and every one that chooses to call DFJ home for whatever amount of time that they do, each one adds to our beauty and joy. Another key factor in DFJ is that our faith in God is woven into all we do and yet not forced on anyone, all are welcome. This is shown in the lap blanket with the foundational stitch alternated with the Trinity (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) stitch. Our actions flow from person to person, what one starts another continues, which you can see as the yarns are changed mid-row sometimes in the foundational stitch and sometimes in the Trinity stitch. And keeping us all together are Cary and Kristen, our co-founders, represented in the two shades of pink yarn at both ends holding us all together in one beautiful lap blanket/ family/ organization. I pray this keeps you warm when you are cold and that you can feel the love of all those that are involved with Designed For Joy when you need a little lift in your spirit!"
